On this Sunday WE VOLUNTEER gave an opportunity to unprivileged souls, who struggle for a bare minimum of living each day to explore themselves and introduce themselves to the outer world or in correct words to the society of higher strata. As festival fever is growing higher day by day so, on 4/11/07 We Volunteer, Amritsar organised a ‘DIWALI RAAT’ in Ranjeet Avenue B-Block, Amritsar.

Theme of this event was to celebrate eve of deepavali with slum kids for whom deepavali is just another ordinary day. The event provided them a stage to display their hidden talent their performances were beyond anyone’s expectations. People from different professions were present in audience to cheer up these kids.

First performance in this event was ‘Modelling’ which was kind of introductory session and kids spell bounded audience with their performances. Second was choreography through which kids conveyed a message of ‘NO BEGGARY’ to the audience. Following it ‘UMEEDEIN’ was a thrilling one, as through this objectives and dreams of these small eyes were displayed.

‘HAPPY DIWALI’ dance was the best way to end the show and wish happy diwali to everyone seated there. Apart from all this kids displayed their handmade creations in an exhibition and earned money from them.

This event was result of great teamwork by Sanjeev Syal, Dr. Alka , Raminder pal Singh, Dr. Param Brar, Rajat Bhalla, Dr. Rohini Kaur Saini.
